DYNAMICS OF MIXING AREA GROWTH IN THE DIRECT NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF GRAVITATION INSTABILITY

The proportionality factor K dependence in the law of mixing area growth L=KAgt2 on amplitude quantity and a setting method for initial perturbation of the boundary between two fluids with different density is analyzed in the computational experiment. For the fixed Atwood number A and constant acceleration g the increase of K with initial amplitude growth irrespective of a grid step and the existence of two stages of area width growth are shown.
