A method has been developed for predicting resonance phenomena in combustion chambers so as to exclude, by means of different constructive techniques and even on the stage of design, the vortex generator of acoustic pressure oscillations in the above chambers. An algorithm for Strukhal numbers definition in the combustion chambers of solid-fuel reactive engines on the basis of numerical and semi-empirical investigations has been developed.
For the purpose of numerical modeling of subsonic gas flows in combustion chambers a finite-difference iterative method has been proposed. The use of non-orthogonal optimal curvilinear grids and special approximation of equations allowed a reliable diagnostics of vortex generation zones in the subsonic parts of gas cavities in chambers and estimation of the influence of gas dynamics parameters and constructive chamber properties on the velocity and pressure fields and on the stationary large scale vortexes generation in a flow.
