We examine difference methods for computing time- -dependent gas dynamics flows described by generalized solutions of differential equations in gas dynamics. Potential ways for increasing computer simulation method efficiencies are analyzed and their implementation is traced historically. Adaptive dtfference methods are proved to be more promising compared to homogeneous schemes for describing flows in gas dynamics. It is pointed out that creating special- purpose computer networks is reasonable for solving a large number of 3-D time - dependent problems.
